72 Days Post Op L5-S1 Spinal Fusion with Interbody Cage

72 days since my L5-S1 spinal fusion with interbody cage. I'd like to take a moment to reflect on memories and life before the fusion, if I could, since my blog didn't start until a few weeks after my fusion. Which is another story in and of itself. I do have plans to expand my blog and to have more aspects of my life incorporated into my site as time allows and God wills. I know I have much more to share with you than just my surgery and God has done so much more work in my life than I could count or even imagine at this point in my journey. For that, I am forever grateful and humbled by His great glory and his mercy on my life as a sinner.

46 Days Post Op Spinal Fusion L5-S1 with Interbody Cage

Day 46 post op. My left calf is still very tight. I iced it yesterday and took it easy. I also rubbed some Icy Hot and then some muscle cramps roll on to help ease the discomfort. My legs and feet are cold. They feel ice cold. My back- temp wise was fine, but it felt warm to the touch this morning. I decided to wait and check it out later, like now that I've been up and walking around ( I just ate a bagel for breakfast ), and it feels normal. Everything is fine this morning.

45 Days Post Op Spinal Fusion L5-S1 with interbody cage

45 days! It's been 45 days of me searching online every single little ache, muscle cramp, spinal fusion question, post op help, and everything that came into my mind about what to expect after a spinal fusion. What I decided even after looking it all up, was that I can not rely on the internet to tell me what I have and to pull from within to help guide me. That is not to say I haven't reached out to my surgeon's office a few times with some alarming mishaps, like when I was almost asleep and I had sharp pain in my chest that woke me up, or raised itchy bumps on my stomach (like all over) that came out of nowhere. Or the million forms that you need to ensure every entity involved has the correct out of work dates and that you are covered. It's been a trippy 45 days for sure.

44 Days Post Op Spinal Fusion L5-S1 and Cage Insertion

44 Days post op. spinal fusion L5-S1 with interbody fusion cage. I was so focused on the fusion, I forgot to mention they inserted a cage between my vertebra where the disc was. So, in essence, I am taller than I was pre-surgery, but as tall as I was (at least in my mind) before the herniation and deterioration of my disc.
